Vol. 190 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Wicklow Estates.

27.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the Knockloe Estate, Tullow, County Wicklow, for division amongst local holders of uneconomic farms and other eligible persons; and, if not, if he will state the reasons why such Estate is not to be acquired.

This matter is under investigation. A decision will be taken as soon as possible.

28.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Pike Estate, Templelion, Redcross, County Wicklow, was acquired by the Land Commission; and if, having regard to the number of people in the area requiring land, it is proposed to divide it at an early date.

This estate, containing 215 acres, was acquired in August, 1958. Enquiries connected with the preparation of the allotment scheme have not yet been completed. If at all possible these lands will be allotted by next Spring.
