asked the Minister for Local Government whether he intends to introduce any legislation to reduce the present high levels of air pollution in Irish cities and towns; and, if so, whether he will indicate when such legislation is to be introduced.

An examination of various aspects of air pollution is being carried out at present. Proposals for legislation will be formulated if and when the need for such is established.
