Vol. 191 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dáil Franchise: Facilities for Emigrants.

34.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider introducing at an early date amending legislation to permit Irish citizens and their families, who have emigrated within the past four years for the purpose of taking up employment, to exercise the franchise in Dáil elections by means of postal voting.

This is a matter which comes within the terms of reference of the Joint Committee on Electoral Law which will, I understand, shortly present its final report to both Houses.
