Vol. 191 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Telephone Services.

56.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a considerable number of telephone connections in rural areas of County Mayo are held up owing to objections to having the necessary poles erected on the sides of roads; if he will take steps to have this question settled as soon as possible; and whether any similar situation has arisen in any other counties.

The answer to the first part of the question is yes. I am very anxious to settle the matter and every effort is being made by my Department towards this end. I hope that it may be possible to settle it shortly. A similar situation does not obtain in any other county.
