Vol. 192 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification in Dingle Peninsula.

42.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power why the Bonane, Tuosist and Caherdaniel areas and the Dingle Peninsula are not included in the rural electrification scheme.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the Bonane, Tuosist and Caherdaniel Rural Areas have been considered by the Board from time to time for development under the Rural Electrification Scheme but have not been successful. The Board are not in a position to say when supply may be extended to these areas.

All Rural Areas in the Dingle peninsula have been developed under the Rural Electrification Scheme. Any householder or group of householders who may still be without supply will be quoted terms on application to their local Electricity Supply Board office.

Could the Minister give any indication as to when these places will get electrified?

The canvass did not result in the scheme being shown to be economic at present. It has been postponed for that reason.

But there is a hope sometime?
