Vol. 192 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Monastery (Wicklow) Water Supply.

55.

asked the Minister for Local Government if any examination has been carried out regarding the water supply at Monastery, Enniskerry, County Wicklow, referred to in a reply of 6th June 1961; and, if so, if he will state the result of the examination; and if any action is being taken in connection with the matter.

The matters raised in the Deputy's previous Question were taken up with the Wicklow County Council but definite information or proposals were not available to me for communication to the Deputy. The present position is: (a) an extension of the watermain to serve other houses in the area has been approved in principle by the Council but a definite scheme has not been prepared pending the outcome of consultations with Dublin County Council regarding the possible servicing of neighbouring houses in that county by means of this extension; (b) the discoloration of the water in the existing main was caused by a chemical reaction which has now ceased. Examination of the water is, however, being continued and part of the main will be relaid if this is found to be necessary.
