Vol. 192 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford River Embankments.

12.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the grave damage caused to farmers of the Knockane and Coolfinn areas, Portlaw, County Waterford, by breaches of the river embankment; and that efforts of the owners of these lands to stem the encroachment of the river from time to time as the breaches occur are futile; and if he will have the whole position examined with a view to having permanent works carried out in order to save this valuable land.

The carrying out of permanent improvement works on these embankments will be examined by the Commissioners of Public Works as part of the comprehensive scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, for the River Suir catchment area of which the engineering survey is at present being made.
