Vol. 192 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Profitability of Small-Scale Farming.

14.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if with reference to the Taoiseach's statement about a study being undertaken of the profitability of small-scale farming and in view of the present uncertainty and anxiety among small farmers he will provide Members with an interim report of that study.

I presume the Deputy is referring to the arrangements made for an examination of the special agricultural problems associated with small farming areas by a Committee representative of the Departments of State concerned and An Foras Talúntais. The Committee are still actively engaged on this examination. Recommendations as they are made by the Committee and approved by the Government will be put into effect, but it is not intended that their recommendations will be made in the form of a report for publication.
