Vol. 192 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pension Scheme for Auxiliary Postmen.

61.

andMr. Coughlan asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he will consider introducing a pension scheme for auxiliary postmen; and, if not, if he will state the reasons why he does not consider such a scheme desirable.

The existing Superannuation Acts do not permit of the introduction of a pension scheme for part-time employees like auxiliary postmen and the question of extending the scope of these Acts is one which the Minister for Finance would have to consider in relation to the State service as a whole.

Would the Minister state if it is his intention to make representations to the Minister for Finance to introduce legislation on these lines in the near future?

I am not making any representations to the Minister for Finance on the matter.
