Vol. 192 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Widows' Pensions.

94.

asked the Minister for Justice whether in view of the present inadequacy of Garda widows' pensions he will consider raising these pensions in the near future.

Under the provisions of the Pensions (Increase) Acts, 1956, 1959 and 1960 pension increases in conformity with those given to other State pensioners were given, with effect from the 1st August, 1956, 1st August, 1959 and the 1st August, 1960, to widows of members of the Garda Síochána. Should there be a further revision of the pension awards to State pensioners generally, the claims of Garda widows will, of course, be considered.
