Vol. 192 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification in Kerry Areas.

51.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will reintroduce the subsidy system for the Electricity Supply Board to enable the rural electrification scheme to be extended to mountain areas such as Glencar and parts of the Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry, already left out of the existing scheme because of the high costs.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that Glencar is part of the Killorglin rural area which has been selected for development.

The policy with regard to rural electrification in areas where no supply will have been provided when the present programme is completed in 1962 is at present under examination.
