Vol. 192 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Extension of Electric Current in Allihies, Cork.

52.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power by what date it is proposed to complete the extension of the electric current to cover all parts of the parish of Allihies, County Cork.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the remaining parts of the parish of Allihies are substantially the Cahermore rural area, which has recently been reconsidered for development under the Rural Electrification Scheme and found economic. Supply will be extended to the area in 1962.

Would the Minister indicate how early in 1962?

I could not say.

It will not be before the elections.

Could the Minister give any idea when supply will be extended in 1962?

That I could not say.

The year 1962 is a rather long time.
