Vol. 192 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - E.S.B. Line Workers : Arbitration Machinery.

53.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether the arbitration machinery to deal with the E.S.B. line workers' claim has been established; and, if so, when it is likely to be in a position to issue its findings.

Conciliation machinery to deal with disputes between the Electricity Supply Board and all or any of its manual workers already exists in the Tribunal established under the Electricity (Supply) Board (Superannuation) Act, 1942.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that a claim on behalf of linesmen has been under active consideration for some time and negotiations have reached a final stage. A joint statement is being prepared for submission to the Tribunal.
