Vol. 192 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ardfert (Kerry) Piped Water Supply.

85.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the Kerry County Council proposed to give the people of Ardfert district a piped water supply from the Barony Brook at one time; and that after years of consultations and gauging trials they have now decided to abandon the proposal; and, if so, if he will now state if the consultant employed by the Council is satisfied that the alternative source that has been under examination for some time will be sufficient to give a piped water supply to the householders included in the original proposal.

I am aware that Kerry County Council abandoned a scheme to serve the Ardfert area from Barony Brook when they failed to acquire rights to the source.

As the consultant employed by the council has not yet furnished a report on an alternative source to serve an area including Ardfert I am not in a position to give the information requested in the last part of the question.
