With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 43 and 44 together.

The number of prosecutions instituted under the Food Hygiene Regulations in the first nine months of 1961 in (a) the Dublin area was 34 and (b) the remainder of the country was 10.

The "Dublin area" comprises Dublin City and County in which areas the health services are now administered by the Dublin Health Authority.

Can the Minister say if he can scotch or confirm a rumour that Chinese restaurants purporting to sell Chinese food have been found to sell cat food?

I do not think that arises out of the Question. I may say I think it is not true. It is a matter, however, for the Chair.

The Tánaiste would be the judge.

Is the Minister satisfied that the regulations have been enforced?

I do not think allegations should be made against business premises——

Can the Minister scotch the rumour?

By implication, charges have been made.
