Vol. 193 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballybay (Monaghan) Auxiliary Postman.

85.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why the vacancy for an auxiliary postman at Ballybay Post Office was filled with an unmarried man when the temporary acting postman was a married man with two dependent children, who is now unemployed.

The vacancy for auxiliary postman at Ballybay Sub-Office was filled in the usual way from lists of persons nominated by the employment exchange. Eight persons were nominated by the exchange for this vacancy. The man selected was the most suitable applicant. It is contrary to practice to furnish any information regarding the claims or qualifications of applicants as this would entail disclosing information obtained in confidence concerning these persons.
