asked the Minister for Local Government what proportion of county roads are now dust-free in each local authority area; how long it will be before the total mileage of such roads will be in such condition; how many counties have now reached the fifty per cent. or over mark in this programme; and what counties, if any, have reached over eighty per cent.

In regard to the second part of the Deputy's Question it would not be practicable to give any estimate; conditions vary substantially from one county to another both in relation to the extent of the problem and the resources available to deal with it.
Thirteen counties had at least 50 per cent. of their county road mileage dust-free at 31st March, 1961, and of these, counties Dublin, Kildare, and Meath had all exceeded 80 per cent.
