Vol. 193 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Betting Tax Revenue.

11.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of revenue collected in betting tax over the past year through (a) betting offices (b) An Bord Rásaíochta from betting on the course and (c) Bord na gCon from betting on the course.

The net revenue collected in betting duty through betting offices during the year ended 31st December, 1961, was £1,035,392.

During the same period the gross amounts collected by An Bord Rásaíochta and Bord na gCon from the levies on bookmakers in respect of course bets were £190,759 and £122,953, respectively. These two amounts, I should emphasise, went into the funds of the bodies concerned, not into the Exchequer.
