Vol. 193 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Recruitment of Engineers.

20.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has been successful in his attempt to recruit additional engineers for the inspection of minor relief schemes and rural improvement schemes.

The Civil Service Commissioners are currently holding a competition to recruit inspectors/engineers to fill the vacancies in the Special Employment Schemes Office and in a number of other Government Departments and offices. The Deputy will appreciate that I cannot yet say whether we will be successful in getting the required number of inspectors for the Special Employment Schemes Office.

Is it not a fact that the Local Appointments Commission held interviews a fortnight ago in connection with filling vacancies for inspectors of minor relief schemes and rural improvement schemes? Is there any decision from the Appointments Commission yet?

The Commission have interviews sitting at the moment and they will continue to sit during the present week.
