Vol. 193 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Immigration into Britain.

21.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for External Affairs whether the new regulations designed to conform to the new British Immigration law will be made available to Members before their introduction and use.

I have already informed the Deputies that arrangements to enable us to continue to ensure that aliens who are not automatically admitted to Britain cannot use the right of free movement between Ireland and Britain to enter that country, are still under consideration. I have nothing to add to that statement.

Can the Minister say how long it will be before he can make a statement?

I do not know.

Would the Minister let the House know when he is in a position to make a statement and before he brings in regulations?

If regulations are made, they will be laid on the Table and will then be open for discussion.
