Vol. 194 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conditions in St. Patrick's Institution, Dublin.

56.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is given periodic reports of conditions at Saint Patrick's Institution, North Circular Road, Dublin; if so, how frequent are such reports; and by whom they are prepared.

As well as furnishing an annual report, the Visiting Committee for the Institution, which is appointed pursuant to statute, furnishes a monthly report on conditions in the Institution and is required to make reports to me concerning any matter in relation to the Institution to which, in their opinion, attention should be called. Additionally, the Governor submits reports in relation to matters calling for Departmental attention and the Superintending Officer of Prisons makes frequent inspections.
