Vol. 194 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Creamery Milk.

34.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if in view of the large saving anticipated as a result of the improvement in the ruling price obtained for Irish butter on the British market he will consider increasing the price of creamery milk to farmers.

The expectation is that there will continue to be substantial losses on exports of butter. At present, the loss is 194s. a cwt. There are, therefore, no grounds for the Deputy's proposal.

How can the Minister reconcile that statement with the fact that there is £2,877,869 less for the export of dairy produce in the coming year?

Not that much.

That is so.

I think the Deputy would want to add it up again.
