Vol. 194 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Extension of Clontarf Cemetery.

28.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received a resolution of protest from the Select Vestry of Clontarf Parish Church regarding his decision not to permit Dublin Corporation to proceed with plans for the extension of Clontarf Cemetery; if he is aware that his decision has caused pain to residents of the area who have had long standing family burial rights in the cemetery which cannot now be exercised; and if he will review his decision.

I have received a resolution from the Select Vestry of Clontarf Parish Church protesting against an alleged decision to overrule a proposal purporting to have been made by Dublin Corporation to acquire land for the extension of the existing graveyard at Castle Avenue. No such decision was made by me nor was any such proposal ever submitted to my Department. In any event, a decision to extend or not to extend the present graveyard could not affect existing rights of interment therein.
