Vol. 194 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Underground Traffic Subways.

24.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he would be prepared to give substantial grants to Dublin Corporation towards the construction of underground traffic subways in view of the dangers, difficulties and delays experienced by pedestrians at traffic crossings and other points.

It is for Dublin Corporation in the first instance to assess the problem at specific locations and to weigh the advantages of different possible solutions. If, following such an examination, the Corporation submit specific proposals to me, they will be considered on their merits. The moneys allocated annually to the Corporation from the Road Fund are available to them for carrying out approved schemes for the improvement of traffic flow.
