Vol. 194 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Valuation of Business Premises.

4.

asked the Minister for Finance whether his attention has been drawn to a report of 5th April stating that a businessman had had the valuation of his premises raised by £12 on account of improvements carried out by his next-door neighbour; whether this report is in fact true; and, if so, whether it is the normal practice of local authorities to adjust rateable valuations for such reasons.

The report referred to by the Deputy does not enable the rate-payer or the premises to which it relates to be identified. No valuation in Drogheda was increased by £12 in the course of the annual revision of valuation for the purposes of the 1962 Revised Valuation List for the borough of Drogheda. If the Deputy wishes to furnish particulars of the case to which he refers I shall have further inquiries made.
