Vol. 195 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Toilet Facilities in County Cork School.

43.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in the provision of toilet facilities for Knockraha national school, County Cork.

The question of the installation of water-flushed sanitary facilities at Knockraha National School has been investigated by the Commissioners of Public Works. The necessary arrangements were not proceeded with as the Commissioners were not satisfied that an adequate water supply would be available for flushing the toilets.

The enrolment of pupils at the school has increased recently and the provision of additional classroom accommodation arises. That being so, the Commissioners have been asked to report to my Department soon as to whether it would be preferable to erect a new school instead of endeavouring to enlarge and bring the existing school up to modern standards.
