The Deputies appear to have lost sight of the fact that the Council of Education's Report had been completed before the introduction of the 1961 Scholarship Act. As I have already stated in the House the effect of that Act has been to increase by over 300 per cent. the moneys available for post-primary scholarships as well as to more than double the moneys available for University scholarships.
The recommendation from the Council of Education will fall to be considered in the light of these facts by all the interested parties.
