Vol. 195 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Rosslare Coast Erosion.

8.

asked the Minister for Finance what amount of money his Department propose to expend during the financial year 1962-63 on works to counter coast erosion at Rosslare, County Wexford; and what works will be carried out by his Department there during the year.

It is proposed to expend a total of £22,000 in the current financial year on the continuation of the protection work at Rosslare. The work to be done comprises mainly the erection of additional timber groynes and the extension of stake breastworks along the shore as well as planting of grasses at the northern end.

It is proposed to spend a similar amount next year to complete the works.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary say at this stage whether or not, in his opinion and in the opinion of his engineers, the work has been effective?

Yes. They are very satisfied with the work.
