Vol. 195 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Secondary Teachers: Service in Defence Forces.

25.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Education if he will take steps to grant appropriate increments to secondary school teachers who served in the Defence Forces during the Emergency and thereby were delayed in qualifying as teachers.

Service in the Defence Forces is accepted for the purpose of incremental salary and superannuation in the case of persons who at the date of enlistment (a) had already served as a registered secondary teacher or (b) had the academic qualifications for registration as a secondary teacher and served as such before 1st August, 1949.
