Vol. 195 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Secondary School Fees.

61.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that a number of Dublin secondary schools have recently increased their fees; if he will state why this is necessary; and if he will increase capitation grants so as to avoid further increases.

Recognised secondary schools are private institutions and the amount of the school fee charged by any individual school is a matter for the authorities of the school concerned. Accordingly, I have no official information on variations made from time to time in such fees.

As I stated on previous occasions, I am having an examination made of the position relating to the payment of the capitation grants, including the basis on which they are paid.

I was quite unable to hear the reply to the Question and I should be grateful if the Minister could repeat it.

Would the Minister repeat the reply to Question No. 61?
