Vol. 195 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Holiday Road Traffic Precautions.

67.

asked the Minister for Justice whether in view of the increased hazards resulting from holiday traffic over the Whit week-end he will take steps to ensure adequate supervision and control of traffic on the roads in the vicinity of Dublin City, so as to minimise the risk of serious road accidents.

Special measures for the control of traffic, including the use of motor-car and motor-cycle patrols, are taken by the Garda Síochána at all holiday week-ends and other occasions when an abnormally heavy amount of traffic is expected, and I am informed by the Garda authorities that, as far as the coming week-end is concerned, arrangements have been made to have the maximum possible number of Gardaí on duty supervising and controlling traffic on the main roads in the vicinity of Dublin.
