21.

asked the Minister for Local Government how many appeals against the condition of vested cottages in County Laois he has received from tenants since 1st January 1962, the number of cottages iispected, and the number of tenants who have received from the Department a list of repairs needed.

The number of valid appeals under Section 18 of the Labourers Act, 1936, which were received in my Department from County Laois since 1st January, 1962, is 13. Three of these have been inspected and enquiries are proceeding in respect of the remaining ten. Final decisions have not yet issued in any of these cases.

22.

asked the Minister for Local Government how many appeals against the condition of vested cottages in County Offaly he has received from tenants since 1st January 1962; the number of cottages inspected, and the number of tenants who have received from the Departments a list of repairs needed.

The number of valid appeals under Section 18 of the Labourers Act, 1936, which were received in my Department from County Offaly since 1st January, 1962, is 14. Nine of these have been inspected and enquiries are proceeding in respect of the balance of 5 cases. In two of the 9 cases inspected, the tenants have been notified of the works which I have determined are necessary to put the cottages into good repair and sanitary condition for vesting purposes.
