Vol. 196 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Nursing Staffs.

2.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that, owing to the implementation of the 45-hour week for nursing staffs, a necessity for additional general nursing posts in County Mayo has arisen; and that the local authority cannot proceed to make the appointments without Departmental sanction; and when he will give the required sanction.

I am aware that the Mayo County Council has agreed to the introduction of the 45-hour working week in their hospitals and I have approved of increases in the nursing staff for all their institutions.
