Vol. 196 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Commission on Income Taxation.

15.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to publish the final report of the Commission on Income Taxation dealing, inter alia, with the taxation of salary and wage earners.

The final report of the Commission on Income Taxation is at present in the hands of the printers and it will be published as soon as printed copies are available.

When is that likely to be?

The Deputy is as well aware as I am of the delays that may arise but I am sure it will be soon.

I thought it might be in the brief.

No, it is not in the brief.

16.

asked the Minister for Finance the total number of recommendations made by the Commission on Income Taxation to date; and the number of these which have been implemented.

The White Paper on Direct Taxation (Pr. 5952) laid by the Government before each House of the Oireachtas on the 19th April, 1961, summarises the recommendations in the Commission's first four reports and indicates those which have been or will be implemented. As regards the three remaining reports I would refer the Deputy to the final paragraph of my reply to a Question by him on the 2nd May 1962.
