asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed that the new school at Derrylamogue, Rosenallis, Laois, will be certified as completed; if he will state the estimated cost, the type of school building and the number of classrooms; and if his Department will take steps to see that no time will be lost in the completion of this school which is of vital importance to the locality.

The erection of this two-room school is virtually completed. It is expected that the final certificate of completion will be issued at an early date. The cost is estimated at £6,100.

asked the Minister for Finance when his Department last inspected and reported on the condition and need for improvement and general repair at the Portlaoise convent school; the estimated amount to be spent in the completion of all necessary repairs in a satisfactory manner, having regard to the long delay in the execution of this work from the date when it was first reported; and when it is expected that he will receive a certificate of completion.

The report on the condition of this school was made to the Department of Education on 19th October, 1950. The estimated cost of the required works is £13,000. The contract is expected to be completed by 31st October, this year.

The date of the decision to erect a new school is not known to the Office of Public Works. A grant was sanctioned by the Department of Education on the 11th April 1961. The site has been approved. Working drawings and bills of quantities have been prepared and tenders will be invited shortly. The school will have five classrooms and is estimated to cost £18,000.

This school was inspected on 4th June, 1962. The improvements are estimated to cost £3,100 and preparation of the working drawings is in hands.

This school was inspected on 13th February, 1962. The preparation of a sketch scheme and estimate is in hands.

asked the Minister for Finance when his Department last inspected the condition and state of repair of the national school at Mount Bolus, Tullamore, County Offaly; when it is proposed to carry out an urgent scheme of general improvements and repairs to this school; what is the estimated cost; and if he will have this work undertaken immediately.

This school was inspected on 26th August, 1961. The improvements are estimated to cost £4,400. Tenders are under consideration.

asked the Minister for Finance when his Department last inspected the condition and state of repair of the national school at Oxmanstown, Birr, County Offaly; when it is proposed to carry out an urgent scheme of general improvements and repairs to this school; what is the estimated cost; and if he will have this work undertaken immediately.

The school was last inspected on 17th May, 1962. The estimated cost of works is £900, and the Manager has arranged a contract.

asked the Minister for Finance when the new school at Killenard, Portarlington, County Laois will be certified as completed; if he will state its estimated cost, the type of school building and the number of classrooms; and if his Department will take steps to see that no time will be lost in the completion of this school which is of vital importance to the locality.

The erection of this one-room school is virtually completed. It is expected that the certificate of completion will be issued at an early date. The cost is estimated at £5,350.

The erection of this school is being carried out under the supervision of the Manager's Architect and the work is well advanced. The school has nine classrooms and is estimated to cost £45,000.

Might I ask if any priority could be given in this very special case so that the work could be proceeded with?

This school was inspected on 29th July, 1958. The improvements are estimated to cost £2,450, and preparation of the working drawings will be commenced as soon as possible.

The school was inspected on 9th March, 1962. Tenders for the carrying out of the improvements scheme, estimated to cost £3,200, have been re-invited.

A report on the requirements at this school was made to the Department of Education in July, 1960, following an inspection earlier in the year.

Working drawings have been prepared by the Manager's Architect. He has been authorised to invite tenders. The estimated cost of the improvements is £60,000.

This school was last inspected on 27th November, 1957. The scheme of improvements to the existing school has been deferred pending completion of the new classroom block. The works are estimated to cost £1,500.

A new school containing eight classrooms has been completed. It was last inspected by the Office of Public Works in December, 1961. An Assembly Hall is in course of erection under the supervision of the Manager's Architect. The school and hall are estimated to cost £52,000.

asked the Minister for Finance when his Department last inspected and reported on the condition and need for improvement and general repair at St. Ciaran's national school, Boher, Ballycumber, County Offaly; the estimated amount to be spent in the completion of all necessary repairs in a satisfactory manner, having regard to the long delay in the execution of this work from the date when it was first reported; and when it is expected that he will receive a certificate of completion.

The report of the condition of this school was made to the Department of Education on 13th March, 1957. The estimated cost of the required works is £5,800. It is expected that the works will be completed by 31st December, 1962.
