Vol. 196 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ireland's Membership of European Bodies.

1.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Taoiseach whether Ireland has applied to become a member of (a) Euratom and (b) the European Coal and Steel Community.

We have not, so far, formally applied for membership of Euratom and the Coal and Steel Community. As I indicated, however, in the course of the statement I made in Brussels on the 18th January, we shall apply for accession to these two Communities when our application for membership of the European Economic Community is accepted in principle.
