Vol. 196 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Quality of Farm Machinery.

31.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is satisfied with the quality of farm machinery both imported and home-manufactured being offered; and if he will consider setting up a departmental committee whose minimum standards of quality and performance must be achieved before an article is recommended by such committee to the Irish farmer.

I have received no complaints regarding the quality of the farm machinery on offer. As An Foras Talúntais has established a national agricultural machinery testing service to provide the farmer with a reliable guide to the performance of the various types of machines, I am not prepared to set up a departmental committee as suggested by the Deputy.
