Vol. 196 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - East Cork Schools.

53.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding proposals for the erection of new schools at (a) Rennies, Minane Bridge, (b) Douglas and (c) Shanbally, Ringasciddy, County Cork.

Tenders for the erection of the new school to replace Rennies national school have been examined by the Commissioners of Public Works and they expect to be in a position to place a contract at an early date.

Working drawings for the new boys school at Douglas have been completed and a bill of quantities is now being prepared. The Commissioners of Public Works will invite tenders when the bill of quantities has been received and examined.

A sketch plan of the proposed new school at Shanbally has been prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works. My Department is in correspondence with the Reverend Manager regarding the arrangements which must be made before a grant can be sanctioned for the new building.
