Vol. 196 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fatal Road Accidents.

4.

asked the Taoiseach the number of fatal road accidents (a) in the county borough of Dublin and (b) in the rest of the country, which occurred in each of the years 1959, 1960 and 1961 and in the first six months of 1962.

Prior to 1961 the place of occurrence of road accidents was classified only according to the Garda Division in which they happened and not according to the county or county borough.

I therefore, propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the number of fatal road accidents which occurred in the Dublin Metropolitan Garda Division and in the rest of the country in the periods in question.

The number of fatal road accidents in Dublin County Borough in 1961 was 62 and in the first six months of 1962 was 17. The latter is a provisional figure.

Following is the statement:

NUMBER of fatal road accidents which occurred in Dublin Metropolitan Garda Division and in the rest of the country in 1959, 1960, 1961 and in the first six months of 1962.
