Vol. 196 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Common Market Languages.

10.

asked the Minister for Agriculture what facilities or inducements are available to the personnel of his Department to enable them to acquire a knowledge of Common Market languages.

In the case of my Department, the facilities made available are for the study of French and they form part of the arrangements set out in the second, third and fourth paragraphs of the reply given by the Minister for Finance on Thursday, 19th July, to a Question by Deputy Pattison.

Are there no facilities for any other language?

The most urgent language is French. These facilities for acquiring a knowledge of French apply to the people immediately concerned with work in connection with EEC matters.

Are there no facilities for any other language?
