Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Deportation of Irish Citizens from Britain.

9.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he is in a position to state how many Irish citizens have been sentenced to deportation from Britain since the British Commonwealth Immigrants Act came into force; how many of those sentenced to deportation have in fact been sent back to this country; and whether he has had any communication or consultation with the British Government with regard to these deportations.

We are in touch with the British authorities in regard to this matter. The position is that five deportation orders have been made in respect of Irish citizens. Two have already been deported and the other three are still undergoing the prison sentences.
