asked the Taoiseach if, should Ireland be admitted to membership of the Common Market, regulations made pursuant to Article 189 of the Common Market Treaty shall be directly applicable here, although they might be repugnant to the Constitution.

In the event of Ireland's becoming a member of the European Economic Community, regulations made in accordance with Article 189 would be directly applicable in Ireland. The constitutional implications of these provisions, along with other similar matters arising out of the Rome Treaty, are being considered.
