Vol. 197 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Withdrawal of Medical Card.

35.

asked the Minister for Health when the case of an applicant (name and address supplied) who appealed against the withdrawal of her medical card was reported to the Meath County Council; and when a decision was taken in the case.

The question of the grant or the withdrawal of a general medical services card is entirely one for the appropriate health authority, and I have no functions in the matter of determining eligibility for those services.

I understand that, in the case to which the Deputy refers, there is no question of withdrawal of a card; on 7th August, 1962 the health authority received an application for a card from the person referred to who had not previously held such a card. The health authority are not yet in a position to decide on the case as they are awaiting the return of a statement of wages which was forwarded for completion to the applicant on the 30th August.
