Vol. 197 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hire-Purchase Agreements.

42.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether his attention has been drawn to reports as to the insufficient care taken by companies in many cases in the making and signing of hire-purchase agreements; and whether he will take any steps to ensure that companies fulfil all the regulations with regard to such agreements.

I have seen a recent reference to a case of this kind in which a hire-purchase company suffered loss through taking insufficient care in drawing up an agreement. The Hire-Purchase Acts set out the requirements for hire-purchase transactions and I see no reason why I should take any steps to protect hire-purchase companies from the consequences of failure to comply with these requirements.
