Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cleaning of Bog Drains.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from Cush bridge on the Birr-Cloghan road, east to Thomas Boyle's bog in Ballycollin, at Galross East, Eglish, Birr, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drains on both sides of the county road from Five Cross Roads, north to the boundary of Timolin bog, at Mullaghakaraun, Banagher, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from Simon Lyon's house and land, west to Five Cross Roads and north to the culvert on the bog road at James Larkin's land, at Timolin, Banagher, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the county road culvert, south of Thomas Kenehan's house, west beside the bog passway to Moorock bog at James Reilly's turf bank, at Wilton, Ballycumber, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from near John Boland's house, east by John Bailery's house to Bellair bog at Kieran Larkin's turf plot at Coracullen, Ballinahown, Athlone; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning to the bog drain from Paddy's River at John Dolan's land, west to William Rooney's turf bank on the north side of the bog to Thomas Geraghty's bank on the south side of the bog, at Meelaghans, Tullamore, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the Tullamore River at Patrick Whelehan's bridge, south-east to Issac Bagenal's turf bank at Annagharvey, Tullamore, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from Thomas Fitzpatrick's bank, opposite the wire fence on the boundary of John Keegan's land, north to John Guinan's turf bank near Blackwood boundary, at Clonygowan, Tullamore, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) recondition the bog drain from the Mill stream, west to Thomas Finlay's turf bank, south to Patrick Dunne's bank and north to Richard Blanc's bank and (b) give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from the Barrow river at Joseph Gorman's land, north by Robert Metcalfe's house, west by the county road, north alongside Pim's road to Metcalfe's turf bank and west to Ambrose Dempsey's bank at Garryhinch, Portarlington, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to clean the bog drain from the Mill Stream at 250 yards south of the Timber Bridge, north under two bog roads to William Green's and Joseph Hyland's turf banks at Clonyhurk, Portarlington, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the dam on Mr. Gavigan's land, east and south by Mrs. Kerley's bank to John Clear's bank, at Ballycue, Geashill, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the culvert opposite James Kenny's turf bank, west to Mrs. Tom Kenny's bank at Castlearmstrong, Ballycumber, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the drain from the bridge on the county road at Patrick Mitchell's land, north on the east side of the road to a culvert under the bog road opposite John Muldowney's land, at Kilmalogue, Portarlington, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from Cushina River at the Lord's bridge, north through Enaghan bog to James Whelehan's turf bank, at Cushina, Portarlington, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from the county road culvert 200 yards east of Bergin's lane, north to Mrs. Mooney's turf plot, and west to Patrick McCormack's plot at Treascon, Portarlington, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to clean the bog drain from the county boundary drain at Paul Dillon's land, south by Patrick Simth's house to the bog face drain, and to recondition the drain from the county boundary drain, south along the bog face to William Wright's turf bank, at Derryvilla, Portarlington, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give a cleaning to the bog drain from the gullet on the county road near Michael Mulligan's, west by Luke Clarke's cottage, north to James Dunne's turf bank and west to Mrs. Green's bank, at Bishopswood, Portarlington, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from Ted Barry's field opposite James Dunne's house, south to John Mooney's turf bank where bog drain R.987 discharges into this drain, (b) clean the bog drain from John Mooney's turf bank, west to James Martin's bank, and (c) recondition the bog drain from the Board of Works drain near the bog road gate, east of the Clodagh River, south to Patrick McCormack's turf bank, at Killeigh, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from the black drain at William Blake's derelict house, south by the bog face to William O'Rourke's turf bank at the wood, at Derrygunnigan, Killeigh, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the River Sconce, opposite John Hanniffy's turf bank, west to Patrick Behan's bank, at Killurin, Killeigh, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) recondition the bog drain from the Ballagh Stream at Michael Reddin's land, north to Frank Feeney's turf bank and (b) give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from the River Blackwater at the end of Patrick Heaven's pasture, south by Derry-holmes bog to Frank Feeney's turf bank, at Cloghal, Cloghan, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from the canal aqueduct at William Dolan's land, east and south by James Coughlan's turf bank to George Anderson's bank, and (b) to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from the Brosna River at William Dolan's land, south by Sylvester Donlon's turf bank and east to George Anderson's bank with branch east to John Galvin's bank, at Falsk, Ferbane, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) recondition the bog drain from the drain at John Harrington's land, east by James Kearn's turf bank, north to John Bell's bank and recondition the branch drain east to Joseph Judge's bank, (b) recondition the bog drain from the main drain, east of Patrick Claffey's cottage, south to Michael Ward's and Patrick Claffey's bank and (c) recondition the bog drain from the county road drain at John Moore's house, west to the bog at Michael Doorley's turf bank, at Noggusboy, Ferbane, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the main drain at the second bridge on the bog road fifty yards south of John Brazil's field, east to James McTighe's and Thomas Maher's turf bank, at Ballydaly, Ferbane, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the River Boora, south to James Pillion's bank, east to Charles Boland's bank, west to Michael Concannon's bank and extending west to William Boland's bank, at Coracullen, Doon, Ballinahown, Athlone; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from Blackwater River at John Gabbott's land, north to John Guinan's turf plot, at Carrowkeel, Clonfanlough, Athlone; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from Thomas Hogan's turf bank, east, north and west around the bog to the culvert near the bog gate at Andrew Hogan's lands, and to recondition five outfall drains from the south side of the bog, south to the Little Brosna, at Cloghan, Demesne, Lusmagh, Banagher, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to remove slips in the bog drain from the county road culvert at Patrick Duncan's gate, south to James Carroll's bog, with branch west to Michael Daly's bog, at Oughter, Rahan, Tullamore, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) reconstruct the culvert with 18" concrete pipes at point 40 perches and clean the bog drain from the brook between Michael Cantwell's and John Buckley's lands, east and south under the bog road to Michael Gannon's bank and east to William Murray's bank, and (b) construct two culverts, one under the bog road and one under the pass to the high bog, and clean the bog drain from the Boora River at Thomas Coffey's land, east under the bog road to John Coolahan's and Patrick Smollen's turf banks, at Lea, Cloghan, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the bridge on the county road at Margaret Kelly's land, north to Cloniffeen bog at James Dunican's turf bank, at Garrymore, Shannonbridge, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the stream at Mrs. Keneghan's land, south to Frank Dolan's turf bank, at Endrim, Ferbane, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the canal aqueduct near Jack Murphy's house, north under the county road at Geraghty's crossroads and west through Togher bog to Barrysbrook boundary, at Togher Rhode, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from Lords drain at Thomas Mooney's land upstream, northwards along the Tyrell Pass Daingean County road to Andrew Gavigan's lands and continuing west to the bog at A. Gavigan's, Col. Bury's and John Carey's on the Derrycoffey-Clonagh townland boundary, at Derry-coffey, Croghan, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have the work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) recondition the bog drain from the River Slate at Michael Dunne's and Patrick Behan's lands, south under the bog road to William Cunningham's turf bank, west to John Kelly's bank and east to William Brierton's bank, at Clonbrin, Rathangan, County Kildare, and (b) recondition the bog drain from the River Slate at John O'Neill's land, south under the two bog roads to John Dunne's turf bank, west to William Brierton's bank and east to John Lawlor's bank; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the brook between D. Cocoman's and J. Mitchell's turf banks to the bog face from the brook between William Dunne's and William Behan's turf bank, east to Edward Kelly's bank, and west to Thomas Mooney's bank, at Clonbrown, Clonbullogue, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the county road culvert at Geraghty's crossroads, north to Joseph Kilmurray's turf bank, at Toberdaly, Rhode, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from Thomas Poland's house, north to Mrs. O'Brien's turf bank, and to give light cleaning to the two outfall drains (1) from the brook at Dolan's shop, east to John Devery's bank and (2) from the brook at Bridget Wynne's house, south-east to Michael Tierney's house, at Pollagh, Rahan, Tullamore, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the bog road culvert under the forestry sign at Jelly's turf bank, north alongside the bog road to Samuel Hodgen's lands, at Kilballyskea, Shinrone, Birr, County Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) recondition the bog drain from the Brosna River at Hume Wallace's land, south under the bog road, and construct a new drain, west by Mrs. Egan's turf bank to Guard Maloney's bank and to Dan Sharp's bank, and construct a new drain from Mrs. Egan's bank, south to Frank Power's bank, (b) recondition the bog drain from Brosna River, west between Land Commission and Wallace's bogs to Dan Sharpe's turf bank, and construct a new drain north-west across the face of Wallace's bog, and (c) recondition the bog drain from the maintained drain at the county road, north of Brett's cottage, east by William Green's turf bank to Mrs. Ellen Whelan's bank, at Ballincor, Shinrone, Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the dam on the Bord na Móna drain at 200 yards south-west of Richard Delaney's entrance gate, west to Séamus Doyle's turf bank, at Derryiron, Rhode, Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from Edward Mooney's wooden bridge, east under the county road at Peter Usher's house to the gate and bridge at Edward Carter's land, at Derres, Edenderry, Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) construct the bog drain from the main drain at Herbert Thomas's bog north-west to Frank Daly's bog, and (b) construct a new drain from where work ceased under sanction 733—1961/62, west to Herbert Thomas's turf plot and clean the existing drain from Thomas's plot, downstream to the brook at Michael Daly's bog, at Derrycooly, Rahan, Tullamore, Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) recondition the bog drain from the main drain at Rabbit Burrow road, west to Christy Gavin's turf bank and south to Daniel O'Meara's bank on Joseph Coughlan's bog, and (b) recondition the bog drain from the main drain at Osie Whitney's turf bank, west to Stephen Dunne's face bank, at Derrinvalligh, Rahan, Tullamore, Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) recondition the bog drain from the brook, south under the bog road to Joseph Cantwell's turf plot, (b) give light cleaning throughout to the bog drain from the culvert opposite Thomas Poland's house, south-east to Oughter-Rahan road to Major Sherlock's bog, north to William Payne's bog and east to Frank Daly's bog, and (c) recondition the bog drain from Oughter brook at Hugh Guinan's land east under Oughter-Pollagh road at Thomas Poland's house and east to the boundary of Herbert Thomas's land, at Derrycooley, Rahan, Tullamore, Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from the bog drain at Patrick Carroll's land, west of John Shanley's old house, west by Mrs. Anne Boland's turf bank to Joseph Clancy's bank, south and west alongside the bog road to James Cooke's bank, at Ballina, Ballycumber, Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to (a) recondition the bog drain from the main bog drain at Lil Hodgen's bog plot, south by face of Ringwood's bog to Michael Bergen's bank, at Kilballyskea, Shinrone, Birr, Offaly, and (b) recondition the bog drain from the reclamation drain on Miss Ringwood's land, north to Michael Shanahan's turf banks and east to Patrick Tierney's bank; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from Barrow River, north alongside the Sallybush bog road, to Ambrose Dempsey's turf bank and north-west to Robert Honor's bank at Barranagh, Mount-mellick, Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of the grant which he has provided to recondition the bog drain from Millrace at Stephen Byrne's land, north to Thomas Fitzpatrick's bank—opposite the wire fence boundary of John Keegan's land at Cloneyhurk, Portarlington, Offaly; and if he will undertake to have this work commenced and satisfactorily completed with the least possible delay in view of its urgency.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to deal with Questions No. 12 to No. 64 together. Because of staff limitations the assembly at this time of the information requested would delay the urgent work of preparing the winter list of bog road development schemes. If the Deputy will repeat his questions in three weeks' time, I shall give him the necessary information.
