Vol. 197 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Caherconlish (Limerick) Vocational School.

125.

asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on the erection of a new vocational school at Caherconlish, County Limerick.

As I informed the Deputy in reply to a parliamentary question in April last, I have given approval for the provision of a new vocational school at Caherconlish, and a sketch plan submitted by the County Limerick Vocational Education Committee, having been examined in my Department, was returned to the Committee in January, 1962, with recommendations for its amendment.

Since then, the Committee has been giving further consideration to the project, and in September last they decided to have an up-to-date survey of the educational needs of the district, before coming to a final decision on the type and size of school to be provided.

In the circumstances, therefore, I am not in a position to give any indication as to when work may commence on the proposed new school.
