Vol. 197 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Suitability of Hairdressing Premises.

25.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if regulations have been made governing the sanitation and suitability of hairdressing premises; if so, what the regulations are; and, if not, if he will make such regulations in the near future.

The sanitary condition and suitability of hairdressing premises from the point of view of the persons employed in them, are dealt with in Part VI of the Shops (Conditions of Employment) Act, 1938, which imposes an obligation on employers to make certain arrangements for the health and comfort of members of staffs of shops. These provisions are enforced by the local sanitary authority.
