asked the Minister for Agriculture (a) the total number of reactor dairy cows purchased by his Department in County Cork during the period 1st October, 1962, to 31st October, 1962, (b) the average price paid per animal, (c) the location and name of the factories to which these animals were consigned, and (d) the number sent to each factory.

(a) The number of reactor cows purchased was 2,708; (b) the average price paid was £57; (c) the cows were consigned to the licensed canning factories of the International Meat Company Limited, Grand Canal Street, Dublin, and Roscrea Meat Products Limited, Roscrea, who hold the current contracts for the slaughter of reactor cows taken up in County Cork; (d) the cows were divided equally between the two factories.
