Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - EEC: Dairy Products and Beef.

16.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that Britain has sent a memorandum to the members of the European Economic Community on dairy produce and beef; and that Denmark is in the course of preparing a similar memorandum, with a view to assisting the EEC in formulating regulations for trade in these products; and whether Ireland has been requested to prepare, or is in the course of preparing, a memorandum on these products.

I am aware that Britain, in the course of negotiations with the EEC, has submitted proposals for modification of the draft Regulations of the EEC Commission on dairy produce and beef and that it has been reported that Denmark also intends to submit memoranda on these subjects. Officials of my Department have already had discussions with the Commission on these proposals, which are in general satisfactory to us, and it is not proposed to submit a formal memorandum at the present stage.
