Vol. 198 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wicklow Harbour Repair Works.

23.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware of the urgent need for repairs to the piers and quays at Wicklow harbour; if a scheme for the carrying out of the necessary works was approved more than twelve months ago; if a State grant towards the cost of the work will be paid; and, if so, when.

The repair of the piers and quays at Wicklow Harbour is the responsibility of the Wicklow Harbour Commissioners. As the Harbour Commissioners lack the resources to carry out the necessary repair work, they have applied for a State grant towards the cost. This application has been under examination and I hope to announce the Government's decision shortly.

Would the Minister say how shortly?

I think, in the course of the next month.
